Sleepy Jean Cardigan

BY MARY ANNARELLA

Wonderfully feminine, this light cardigan features a flowing peplum with eyelet detail and allows customized shaping through the waist and hips.  It is knit from the shoulders-down, with simultaneous set-in sleeves that are worked with the upper bodice, and then the peplum is worked separately as a top-down, crescent shawlette that is sewn to the hem after blocking.   Suitable for intermediate knitters, Sleepy Jean is available in eight sizes, and the sample shown used a fingering weight wool and silk blend yarn, knit at a sport weight gauge to create a light fabric that drapes well.
