Shining Bird’s Eyes Shawl

BY SHUI KUEN KOZINSKI

All seeing and bright
From the heights of clouds –
Shining bird’s eyes

Graceful and distinctive, this shawl incorporates an old lace motif and updated top down construction methods with beautiful results.  Bird’s Eye Lace motif is also known as Spider lace and this lace pattern was first published as a Round Shetland Veil, in 1867.  With this version, the designer has simplified the original stitch and  finished the shawl’s edge with a Crown picot cast off to echo the bird’s eye motif.
