Meshing Up the Grid

BY KAREN HEIMBURGER

Worked from the point up, this easy-to-knit shawl features garter stitch grid lines, checkered with mirrored, openwork mesh squares, finished off with a sassy, little tassel. Add a few beads to sparkle up its airy plaid, or keep it plain.  It makes a terrific project for elann fingering weight yarns – add a subtle colorful flow of tonal stripes by knitting it in Pure Intonation 4-Ply (pictured in color 707 Blissful Blues), or add a unique dance of colors with elann Tarantella (pictured in color 507 Bohemian, knit and photographed by Raveler PJAlaska).   You may find that you use every last inch of one skein, so we have included two finished size dimensions, the smaller one representing stopping one repeat earlier, if you find it necessary.
