Diagonal Garter Square Wrap

FROM ORAL TRADITION

This timeless, versatile wrap is based on a style that was popular in the 1950s. Knit diagonally to its center, and then split in two, it is completely reversible, and can be worn in a variety of ways to suit your mood and personal style.

Even better, it can be knit in any yarn to any gauge – only the amount of yarn used will vary, depending on the yarn and gauge you choose. Our sample was knit in a DK weight, light mohair, long-printed yarn, on larger needles than recommended on the yarn’s ball band, to produce a light fabric with a soft drape.

  • Experience Level: Beginner
  • Finished Size: Approximately 102 cm x 102 cm (40″ x 40″) after blocking.
  • Materials: Approximately 900 m (981 yds) of DK weight yarn (21-23 sts to 10 cm/4″).  Yardage requirements will vary, if a different weight of yarn is chosen; you will need more yardage for a finer weight yarn and less yardage if you choose a heavier weight yarn.
